Interview to Gerolymatou Maria (GR)

Instrument Makers and cases
All of the members of "Labyrinth" owe a special debt of gratitude to the instrument-makers who supply us with some of the finest quality instruments which are available.
About Music, by Ross Daly

Music exists everywhere in our world but, for the most part, we unfortunately don't hear it. This is perhaps because we think that music is but yet another language to be used in our dialogue with the world, a language which we employ for our everyday interactions with it.

The musical tradition of the island of Crete is one of the most active and vibrant traditions to be found anywhere in Europe today. Despite this fact, however, not many people are aware of it, and even fewer know very much specifically about it.

Interviewed by Claire Coughlan

Claire Coughlan talks to Ross Daly about his eclectic use of instruments and how his nomadic upbringing has influenced his world music.

Ross Daly is that rare breed of musician who is a virtuoso on an array of instruments; however, none of them are immediately recognisable to the undiscerning Western ear.

Conference: "Maqam and creation"

Royaumont, October 2005
"A lot of my work over the last 20 years has been concerned with collaborations and meetings between musicians of various different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Many people have assumed as a matter of course that I have actively sought out such collaborations based on an interest in combining, mixing or even "marrying" heterogeneous cultures, as some people have so clumsily expressed it.
